Minnesota NOW is hosting the 2019 National NOW Conference. Theme: Feminist Agenda Rising: Our Time is NOW.
Calling all feminist activists! We hope to see you at the 2019 National NOW Conference in Bloomington, Minnesota, July 19-21. You can register here and make your hotel reservation here at the Hilton Minneapolis-St. Paul Airport Mall of America. This conference will be the first time we can celebrate together the tremendous gains made by feminist candidates in Congress and state legislatures in the 2018 mid-term elections. As the Conference theme indicates, “Feminist Agenda Rising: Our Time is NOW”, we can look forward to seeing many of our long-desired policy and legislative initiatives be taken up by lawmakers. Already, in Congress scores of progressive measures have been filed and many states are moving forward with legislation on workplace harassment, pay equity, paid leave, gun control and many others.
We plan to have many distinguished speakers, including prominent elected feminist officials, a compelling Political Action Committee (PAC) luncheon where we look forward to 2020 election year plans and the role that NOW activists can play.
Comedian, radio and television personality and blogger Lizz Winstead will be a featured speaker. A native Minnesotan, Lizz is a co-founder of The Daily Show and the creator of the witty and very entertaining activities of Lady Parts Justice League, which is described as “a coven of badass feminists who use humor and pop culture to expose the haters fighting against reproductive rights.” This is a satiric vehicle for pushing back at the many efforts to undermine women’s access to reproductive health care. Lizz’s monologue promises to be a wonderful laugh-a-lot experience.
